Can I have a lawyer with me in court?

I am subpoenaed to testify in court and the defendant has the top lawyer who gets murderers off. I would like to have a lawyer to protect me from being torn to shreds on the stand. I live in Canada, does anybody know if I can have a lawyer with me to represent me even though the crown prosecutor will be there?
