Vlc media player wmp stream?

Ok, i watch some streams, that i pay for, now i want to record a portion of that, and there is no record on for wmp but there is for vlc, I am wondering if there is anyway to make vlc automaticly play the streaming wmv files and in a broswer, So i can use the record on on vlc, If there is not a way to do this and/or if there is another way please answer and inform me.
